Biography
Dr. Burton B Yang finished his M.Sc. studies at the South China Agricultural University early 1985. He entered the Ph.D. program at the University of Manitoba in 1988 and received his Ph.D. degree in 1992. After two years of postdoctoral training at the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Yang took a Scientist position at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in 1995 and became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2001 and to Professor in 2007. During the past 20 years, he received a number of personal awards from the Arthritis Society of Canada, the Premier’s Research Excellence Award, Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Award, CIHR-Ontario Women’s Health Council/IGH Mid-Career Award, Career Investigator Award and Investigator Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Dr. Yang has published over 150 papers. Some of them are in high ranking journals including Cell, Nature Cell Biology, European Heart Journal, JCI, Cell Research, Nature Communications, EMBO Journal, PNAS. His papers have received over 8000 citations with an H-Index of 55.
