Biography
Professor Chan obtained his M.D. degree from the University of the East, Philippines. He then received Diploma in Palliative Medicine from the University of Wales, Cardiff and Master Degree in Hospital & Healthcare Management from the University of Birmingham, UK. His research group has been studying the biology of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), dendritic cells (DCs) and neuroblastoma cells (NBs), in particularly how they interact with each other. In clinical setting, Professor Chan’s focus is on finding new treatment modalities for neurogenic tumours such as neuroblastoma and brain tumours. Professor Chan’s research group are among the first groups to start using anti-GD2 in metastatic neuroblastoma since 1999.
